Looks like I'll be able to get some more urban shots soon. It'll feel a bit touristy, but I won't turn down the opportunity.

Turns out that I'm more than happy with the f1.8 50mm. I'm enjoying the challenge of the lens. It's reminded me how lazy I can get with the zoom.

I'm giving up on the idea of an f1.4 50mm lens. I think I'll be just as happy with the f1.8.

I'm in the process of creating another tabletop story game; this one is about Lego minifigs adventuring through the world. This time I enlisted the help of a friend for layout and he suggested a photo for the front cover. Crafty lad also suggested making a light tent to take the shots. So yesterday I made a light tent. It was kinda crappy but it helped with the shots. 80-something photos later and I've just sent him the contact sheet for his comments.

I might consider buying a light tent if I ever have to do this again. I introduced a few too many issues around lighting and white balance by doing it this way. Proper materials for the tent would help enormously.

Live and learn, eh?

When I bought my DSLR last year I only bought a single lens with it; an 18-200mm. It's a great lens that lets me do just about everything, but it's a heavy thing and stops at around f3.something. Now I have my eye on a 50mm f1.4.

Time to save.
